Barbara Schiffman

Barbara Schiffman has been a script consultant and pitch coach, specializing in adapting books and true stories to film, for over 30 years.  She provided coverage on scripts and books for major Hollywood studios, cable networks, producers and literary or talent agencies (including HBO, Starz, Dreamworks, Miramax, CAA, UTA) plus indie producers, directors and writers. She also served as Creative Executive for Dan Petrie Jr. (writer, “The Big Easy,” “Turner and Hooch”) and Warren Beatty (writer-director-producer, “Dick Tracy,” “Bulworth,” “Rules Don’t Apply”) and was Story Editor for Hanna Barbera Features.  A frequent speaker at pitchfests, AFI classes and screenwriting expos, her chapter on “Key Things to Know Before You Write” is published in Penguin/Tarcher’s anthology “Now Write! Screenwriting.”  Recently relocated from LA to Spokane, Barbara is eager to support local writers and filmmakers to share their great film stories with Hollywood and the world.
