What is Connecting in Chaos (CIC)?

Table reads are an essential part of the writing process. They reveal to the writer what is working in their scripts, and what may need improvement.

Connecting in Chaos, (CIC), is a table read program designed to foster relationships between writers, actors and the wider Spokane Film Project community. Created by Rebecca Cook and actualized by Jennifer Gatts during the first surge of lockdowns during the pandemic in 2020, CIC offers a much needed artistic engagement and a community outlet for creativity. As the world changes and continues to evolve, the CIC program evolves also. SFP Screenwriters Group, a sub-group of CIC, allows writers the chance to meet for informal discussions regarding scripts. This group may act as a conduit, providing writers from the seasoned professional to the beginner, the opportunity to participate in an eventual table read.

If you are a WRITER and you are interested in submitting a script for consideration, please fill out the intake form:

Table reads provide actors a safe platform to practice different roles, connect with other actors, and meet collaborative partners. If you are an ACTOR and you are interested in participating in table reads, please fill out the intake form:

Screenplays will be read, first in-first out. All screenplays will be considered (shorts, episodic, and full length features). Once a script has been selected, the committee will work closely with the writer to coordinate a table read.

    • All participants must be members of SFP.
    • Participants must be willing to be filmed, photographed and consent to the use of their image in CIC and SFP marketing, without compensation.
    • A table read monitor will be present.
    • Actors will be encouraged to bring their own hard copy of the script.
    • Table read actors will be determined in conjunction with the writer and members of the CIC Committee.
